J.R. Barrett

I have known Mr. Phil Todkill and his family for many years, having worked with his father, Neil Todkill Snr. in his capacity as a hard hat diver and rigger at New Farm power station, Brisbane, in the 1950s,while this power station was operating.

From early in the 1990s, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil and his brothers on the many marine projects that each brother has been involved in, since our initial contact.

Phil was Principal and CEO of Marine Applications, shipbuilding and repair company, at the time accredited as Ship Builders with Maritime Safety Queensland, at Hemmant, Brisbane. This company operated from the early 1990s, until late into the first decade of this century, and had a reputation of being a well-operated and efficient organization, which vessel Owners and Operators could rely upon to provide timely and cost effective service. This reputation was earned by Phil and his staff through the effort, experience and integrity of the Principal.

In 2009, Phil decided that a change of direction would suit his lifestyle, without the pressure of operating a multi-skilled Company. Operating a crane barge on the Brisbane River and in Moreton Bay, on various marine construction and repair works for many large organisations in the area, which require their wharves and jetties to be well constructed and maintained.

In my many dealings with Phil, I have been impressed with his honesty, experience and knowledge, and I have no hesitation in recommending Phil and any organization with which he is involved, or to any Company which may require prompt and efficient service on Marine Projects.
